Students have lots of homework. They have lots of tests to study for. It can be overwhelming and stressful for them. I asked my students what they do to relax. They had some really good ideas.

First some study tips from Teacher Sean.

  • Don’t cram! Don’t do all your studying the night before your test. Divide it up over the days before your test.
  • Get eight hours of sleep nightly. Don’t go to sleep at 2 AM the night before the test.
  • Don’t take a test on an empty stomach. Bring snacks to school. Eat them just before you take the test.

Now on to how students can relax.

HOW TO RELAX AND TAKE BRAIN BREAKS

  • Get close to nature and go for a long walk at the park or beach
  • Take a nap or shower
  • Draw, paint or play an instrument (or do any relaxing or enjoyable hobby)
  • Go shopping
  • Sit and think
  • Go to your favorite place
  • Take deep breaths and learn how to relax by breathing

WATCH A FUNNY MOVIE

  • Watch TV shows and movies you like
  • Watch YouTube
  • Watch funny cartoons
  • Watch videos on social media like Instagram or TikTok
  • Watch how to study videos

LISTEN TO RELAXING MUSIC

  • Play a sport
  • Exercise at home (find an exercise video you can follow online) or go to a gym
  • Ride your bike somewhere
  • Stretch or do some yoga
  • Go for a short walk around your house
  • Clean your desk / bedroom
